History of Cornerstone Indian Baptist Church

Cornerstone Indian Baptist Church has been in the Little Axe area since 1989. The church was a mission that was started in the area to try to get more Native American families to attend church. The Mission started with just a few members and currently has a membership in the Sunday School of about 30 people. Don Tiger, a member of the Creek tribe, was the first pastor of the Mission.

On August 1, 1999, The members of Cornerstone Indian Baptist Mission became members of Cornerstone Indian Baptist Church. The move to constitute into a church was celebrated by the members and a number of guests from neighboring churches. A representative from the Union Association in Norman, OK was alse present for this glorious occasion.

Cornerstone also dedicated a new Church building on October 3, 1999. The building took almost three years to complete, but with the help of many people from other churches in different states, the building was completed. The first church service that was held in the new building was on Easter Sunday, 1999. Many members from the churches that helped were invited to share with the members of Cornerstone, another historical event in church history.

The current pastor is Bryce Scott.
